Nursing Home Injury
Rick Woods has the knowledge and resources to fight for patients who have suffered from abuse and neglect in nursing homes and hospitals. Rick has developed a comprehensive approach to combating the indignities suffered by this vulnerable segment of our society.
The Sad Reality of Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
With the baby boomers reaching ages where long term care is becoming a reality, and medical advances that are extending the average lifespan, there has been a tremendous increase in our nursing home resident population. This continued growth has put a strain on the assisted living and nursing home industry. Like any other industry, nursing homes are motivated by profit, and sometimes this leads to neglect and/or abuse of their residents. In many cases these physically and/or mentally impaired residents cannot notify officials of the neglect or abuse they are experiencing. Most patients rely upon others to ensure that their health needs are met and to assist them with the activities of daily living.
Rick Woods will hire investigators at the earliest stage possible who will interview past employees, witnesses, and other insiders to come forward and tell us of your loved one's abuse or neglect. The basic rights and dignity of an individual should not be ignored just because that person has reached an age where he/she requires the help of others. We have developed a comprehensive, aggressive approach to combating the indignities suffered by this vulnerable segment of our society, which often avoids the lengthy process of litigation. We use local and national experts to assess each case and to pursue resolution of claims expeditiously.
Office of Long Term Care (OLTC) Investigations
State of Arkansas: 1-800-582-4887
The Office of Long Term Care conducts investigations of complaints in which abuse or neglect of residents or misappropriation of resident property is witnessed, suspected, or alleged in long-term care facilities. Complainant information is kept confidential. If violations of laws or regulations are found, the Office of Long Term Care can impose fines or other sanctions against the facility, and can exclude the perpetrator from employment in long-term care facilities. Any person can make a complaint, and may do so anonymously. In addition, complaints can be made by mail or email. Also, the Office conducts periodic, unannounced surveys of all facilities in Arkansas to ensure that the facilities adhere to minimum requirements for both resident care and physical conditions. The Office can impose fines, revoke licenses, or take other action to ensure compliance.
